This girl eating a watermelon “as is” is a great example of how we should be eating.

We grew up believing that our diet should be fool of different ingredients and a mixture of different substances together.

I quoted John H Tobe in this article because what he said a couple of things that caught my attention.


“Any food that requires enhancing by the use of chemical substances should in no way be considered a food.” 

He said also:

“Disease is the biggest money maker in our economy.” 

Even though nobody produces food with the intention to make people sick (at least I don’t believe so,) the truth that we poison our inner environment with our nutrition choices is a fact.

Most of us are addicted to refined sugars and refined wheat and, as a result of a life eating unbalanced meals is: sickness.

How many long-life-shelf products are full of preservatives, sugar, salt?

I found what Wikipedia says about sugar:

“Sugars are found in the tissues of most plants and are present in sugarcane and sugar beet in sufficient concentrations for efficient commercial extraction. The world production of sugar in 2011 was about 168 million tones. The average person consumes about 24 kilograms (53 lb) of sugar each year (33.1 kg in industrialized countries), equivalent to over 260 food calories per person, per day. Since the latter part of the twentieth century, it has been questioned whether a diet high in sugars, especially refined sugars, is good for human health. Over-consumption of sugar has been implicated in the occurrence of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, dementia, and tooth decay.” Source: Wikipedia

Sugar is a concentration of once was part of a whole sugarcane or a sugar beet for example.

Also wheat is extracted from a cereal grain and we all (widely) consume refined wheat, which is a high concentration of just one part of the whole cereal.

Returning to the girl in the picture, I imagine that this girl is eating watermelon for breakfast. This is not a processed food. It is given to us already “packed” for our consumption.

I always imagined a breakfast like this: Coffee and milk with sugar as you with, croissant with marmalade, cake, then more coffee with sugar… and then more croissants with marmalade and more cake…

Now I know that real food is something else. 

There’s a difference between the watermelon for breakfast and the breakfast I described before.

The watermelon “as is” is full of vitamins, like: Vitamin A, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, C, then Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Manganese, Phosphorus, Potassium, Sodium, Zinc, Sugars (6.2%) Protein (0.6%) Fat (0.15%)

All is balanced, and if we start by replacing a breakfast with something like that, I mean, natural food, our well-being, which is our natural state, is going to flourish.

Trust your gut, but not too much…

Why it is so hard for many of us to have self discipline in following a diet?
I had a hunch today and I wondered: I have eaten half hour ago… Should I believe to this stimulus to open the fridge again?
Should I believe that this “signal” really means that I’m hungry? This apparent need could be a lie. Should I follow a lie?
The reality is that many of us affirm that we don’t like lies. We affirm continuously that we wouldn’t trust the next thing a “liar” tells us.
We, though, are used to the lies that we tell ourselves all the time.
Today I helped myself by answering those questions, taking responsibility in doing what is best for my own body.

Certainly, eating unnecessarily is a waste for many reasons.

Money: The majority of us walk isles of stores trying to find the best for the less money possible. Most of us eat double of whatever we bought that made us save money.
Work overload: Yes, our organs have to work more to digest all the substances we ingest. Our bodies have their own intelligence and that intelligence is used to manage in the best way possible. This ability changes as we progress in age. So we continue ingesting more food than what we need, the “production line” slows down inside and we keep growing.
Health: Imagine if the garbage truck stops coming every week and we’re given plastic bags to store our garbage inside our apartment. They claimed that those bags would seal odors and substances, preventing from coming out… 
What happens inside our bodies when we live a life of food congestion is this: What we cannot eliminate, is stored. This means we store toxins inside our cells which creates a poisonous environment, which means that cells need to adapt in order to survive. This is why cancerous cells once were healthy ones.  
What do we need?
It is a good practice eating lots of vegetables and fruits. Recently I wrote an article about a very healthy vegetable recipe made very simple and fast.
We grew up believing that having lots of different nutrients in every meal is good for us.
I personally believe that the less we mix different foods, the better for our health. The less salt and sugar we consume, the less risk of chronic deceases we’re exposed to.

Here’s why I looked for the solution…

I am a father of 3 boys. One lives near me and I see him very often. Other two, my older boys are in their 20’s, they  live in Italy and I don’t see them as often as I want.

I was born in Argentina and I have the rest of all my family there. I don’t get to see them very often and I have to prioritize the money for trips to go visit them and for everything else in my life. That’s a limitation…

Say… for example that your goal is: “Working from whatever location in the world I am, having acquired skills that will give me abundant wealth, being continuously on vacation.

Okay then… Being your own boss requires that you need to abandon old mental beliefs about money and acquire new beliefs.

Requires also that you face your own fears about failure, ridicule, other’s criticism, other’s opinions.

It requires to be organized, consistency, self-discipline, perseverance, believing in yourself and even ignoring your own negative thoughts about yourself and others.

When I was younger, I felt rejection of some successful money makers. You know… “Money is the root of all evil…” kind of thing.

Now, that I’m working towards becoming one of them, I feel respect and admiration because I know what it takes.

What I have never experienced in a conscious way, was the fact that the perfect ideas of yourself are, in reality, your real future. What we think that is: “too good to be true” is, in fact, what we have in front of us as opportunities.

When I was a minister in Italy, I didn’t know the meaning of the mystical symbolism of “Marrying Christ” or “The union between the Holy Spirit and your soul”. I thought I did know.

Now… I don’t intend to look religious here but, just to translate the same knowledge using different language that point ALL to the same goal.

Science and spirituality are not opposite. I have learn from science that body, mind, spirit and soul are all interconnected. Everything that “is” has a spiritual essence in it.

  1. Imagine if the Spirit of God, The Holy Spirit, is how God sees you. I believe we have the power to transform the way we see ourselves by connecting with this source that can ONLY be access from within ourselves. All the perfect ideas of yourself, having the best emotions, the emotions you want to experience and the situations, environment and people you want in your life. We all are interesting in learning new skills and, sometimes in our lives, we do seminars, courses, training and what not…

Remember the best-selling book “The Secret”?

There’s only one thing I don’t agree about what they say in there. It says that, in the past, who knew the secret, tried to keep it for themselves in order to keep dominium over the poor people.

You might ask why I think differently…

Just because who really knows the secret, I mean, how to use their imagination and to create their own reality, actually cannot keep this from sharing their knowledge.

If they believe that this information will make other be more than him, then he (or she) is applying the wrong “secret”.

If he feels greedy, envious, domineering, vulnerable, materialist, superior or some other low-frequency feeling, then he’s not applying the real secret.

The word “Secret” is just a word. It is not a secret but it is call “secret” because people look at this knowledge as it was something that comes from other people’s teaching. And we all been there trying to absorb other’s knowledge to attract a different reality. It looks mysterious, like a secret, because we’re just looking in the wrong direction.

There’s nothing wrong with that. That’s is the way we acquire knowledge but there’s a component that is missing and that is: intuition. Intuition means “taught from within”. It is a straight connection between divine ideas and our subconscious mind.

A perfect image of ourselves!

Now, imagine yourself as a perfect being, perfect life, always under perfect inspiration, always making right decisions…

Now… imagine if your subconscious is filled with these beliefs!

The mystical idea of “The union of your soul and the Holy Spirit” or “To be married with Christ” holds this secret.

The union between God’s perfects ideas of YOU (and me), united with your soul (subconscious mind.)

What is in the middle? In the middle abides our conscious mind. The one that sees limitation, bad news, negativity, criticism, judgement, and the list can go on forever

Our subconscious might be related mostly to that “conscious” mind more than with the God’s mind (perfect ideas.)

That’s why is very important to be positive and to stop putting ourselves down. It is very important also to stop putting down our children or others for whom we are meaningful, telling them that they’re not good enough to pursue their ideas if they confess their dreams to us.

Just stop saying: “I can’t” or “You can’t”

Replace it with: “I can!” or “How can I?”. “You can!” or “How can we accomplish this?

We want to change the way we consider ourselves. This is the SECRET.

I personally believe that anybody that applies this concepts and let their perfect ideas soak their subconscious, don’t need to hide any secret.

I also believe that this knowledge couldn’t be taught but it needs to be pursued by the individual. It is an inner conversation, an inner exploration, a personal experience and transformation.

We need interaction with rough models, meaning, others that already experience the feeling and life we want to experience but the real learning is to learn how to experience those feeling before they materialize into things.

So, things don’t change… instead, thoughts change, ideas change, inner conversation change, then suddenly we realize that our surroundings are already changed.

Ways to make yourself happy.

Happiness is the state of mind that comes with knowing where you are and KNOWING where you’re directed too. It is just being in harmony with the stream of life.

So… happiness is not a goal to achieve. Happiness is a natural state of whoever is walking towards a clear goal.

We live in a world where consumerism encourage you to “buy” what is already made for us to consume. We’re encouraged to find the feeling that “we’re safe now” or “I arrived already…”

We’re looking for permanence where, in reality, nothing is permanent. Life is a journey and not a destination.

Now, I’m here to encourage you of being your own artist, your own builder, your own master, your own doctor, your own counselor, your own comedian actor.

Please don’t misunderstand… I am not here talking about trying to save money in not hiring professionals to help you fix your things or stop going to the cinema… Not at all!

I am talking about taking initiatives, knowing that you have the power of creation and the responsibility of your own inner state. If you feel empty, then that’s true, and that’s because the emptiness needs to be fulfilled by a purpose.

And your emptiness is because you are not clear about where you’re directed to. Maybe because you believe that you’re not intelligent like other successful people. Maybe because someone told you that you’re not good enough. None of these things have to be an excuse for you to stop using your imagination and create a dream.

So… planning your next move after knowing what you want is the secret of a happy life.

Enthusiasm is part of “having a good day” kind of feeling. But there’s no enthusiasm when you don’t know what you’re running after.

Our brain is enormous. I mean… not the brain itself. I just mean, our brain imagines, and the imagination is unlimited. The more we practice imagination the more this muscle called brain stretches with no limit.

Your mind is not just contained inside your skull. Your mind is anywhere your mind can go, anything your mind can “say” you are.

As I wrote days ago, discipline is the beginning of making habits stick. Discipline in following routines.

Certainly, nobody likes to be disciplined and in fact, this sounds like you’re being “encouraged” to quit this page and search something else to read or watch.

But, just listen to this for a moment my friend…

You are not going to be forced to do anything. You ARE choosing, driven by your own determination, to follow a path that, by itself, generates happiness.

The only thing you need to do is to create a goal, and as always, you need to know WHY you want that goal.

Writing things down is the beginning of every achievement. That will help you clarify what you are after…

What emotions do you want to experience?

Well, just create them inside yourself while you imagine your goal already achieved.

We are trained to believe that external events or things will give us happiness and lasting satisfaction. No way…

We’re trained to believe that emotions are created by events outside ourselves, but that is living at the mercy of events that are out of our control.

What I know is that we put happiness into actions. We choose goals and we choose our emotions. Happiness just appears right inside.

We are “goal oriented” creatures and if we quit to envision goals, then we are not fulfilling our own core nature.

Grab that pen at your right, that notebook at your left, open up a new file in your laptop and start typing your ideas. Start writing: what, why, when, how

We live in our environment… no doubt about that. And if our environment become poisonous we will suffer.

I didn’t invent the wheel with this… I know.

The point now is. Where does your environment starts? It starts where your skin ends?

What is the environment where you live my friend?

Is it what you breathe, is it what you eat?

I believe that everything is an exchange of energy and all exchanges happen in the environment.

So, we see the clouds that come done as rain. Then the soil absorbs the fluid and part of it form rivers that end in the seas and oceans. There we go again that, from the soil, rivers, seas, oceans and all creatures that absorbed that water, all that water returns again and blends with the atmosphere. Never ending cycle.

Now. We absorb the fruits of the soil, we use part of it as energy and then the rest comes out and return to the soil… and one day, we all return to the soil.

I believe that our environment, where we live, doesn’t end where our skin starts. We are environment and our bodies are part of that environment.

If we spill engine oil on the ground, we definitely are poisoning the soil. No difference with consuming contaminants. Our “soil” suffers and struggle to return to normal again.

It will eventually, but what if we continuously, as a habit, consume junk without allowing our bodies to eliminate, balancing all values to normal?

This truth, the truth of your own responsibility about your own environment arrives to a tipping point here.

Is up to you and whatever your brain is telling you now, whatever idea of blaming society, your parents, your spouse, just ignore it for a second.

What about the simple change of replacing sodas and mass produce juices with water in your diet?

That’s a huge improvement that helps you keep your “environment” uncontaminated and doesn’t require money… it saves you money indeed.

How much do you believe in food images you see in advertisement?

(If you’re struggling with losing weight and health issues, then please follow these tips. I found myself in a healthy state for long time. I still am)

Think about this… Everything you buy that is inside a box, can or bottle has some “alien” element that doesn’t belong to a healthy food.

Any fruit juice, low calories, low fat, 100% natural or whatever cover of whatever food you buy at the grocery store, think about your option not to believe in…

If you do choose well, I mean, your option to be skeptical, then you might be 100% right.

If I didn’t mention this before, I am a vegan.

Yes, I know… I confess that I am not following it in a very fanatic way. I eat cheese pizzas (I love it), I love cakes, I love grilled salmon. Especially when I am in company with friends and family I don’t force myself and I stop being vegan just for a meal 😊

Anyway… That’s not my everyday life though. Every time I go to the store, I spend most of my time in the fruit/vegetable area.

Nuts, especially walnuts, are one of my favorite snacks.

What do I do with veggies?

Before I continue my veggies story, I will tell you that many of the people I know, that work with me, fill their lunch bags with frozen food bought at the store. Easy! 3 or 4 minutes in the microwave and that’s it!

Well… as I said before, who knows what’s inside those boxes.

Oils, excessive salt, sugar, chemicals and what not…

I have a HEALTHIER way and I will pass the info to you.

I have a pressure cooker. I fill this with half water (if I include rise), otherwise 1/3 is enough.

I cut sweet potatoes, a couple of garlic heads, broccoli, carrots, etc. Use your fantasy and whatever vegetables you would like.

Then I add some rise, lentils, half peas, barley… just be creative.

Then add spices… Rosemary is my favorites. Not much salt. Avoid it if possible.

Pepper and/or whatever else you love. If you want to be perfect DON’T include oil… no oil. But if you can’t avoid then don’t exaggerate. Just a little.

The cooker has to be not very full. Just follow the instructions coming with your pressure cooker.

Next… seal that cooker and put in on the stove for about 50 mins (that works for me but you check it out)

It has to whistle for about 10 minutes and that’s it!

The magic comes when you, after it cools down, you take about 8-10 covered bowls (Tupperware types) and fill them with your delicious meal and put them in the freezer.

Every day, for more than a week, you have the healthiest lunch you could ever imagine!
